Tasting Notes: mineral-rich with fruit + earth notes

Description: An award wining tea cultivated from the oldest organic Darjeeling estate in India. The Makaibari tea estate was founded in 1859. This tea garden is renowned for having been the first tea garden worldwide to consistently practice biodynamic cultivation.

This particular Makaibari 2nd Flush (summer harvest) Darjeeling tea is an aromatic black tea with pleasant astringency and mineral-rich forest floor notes. A medium-bodied black tea with lingering notes of fresh grass, Muscat grape, lemon, musk, and apricot. A finely balanced tea that is satisfying and alluring. One of our favorite afternoon black teas.

Ingredients: organic Darjeeling Second Flush (summer harvest) black tea from the Makaibari Estate in India

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3-5 minutes

Daniel ★★★★★

Wasn't expecting the mineral quality to hit so hard on the first steep, but this cup is genuinely something else. Knowing it comes from an estate founded in 1859 makes the whole ritual feel a bit more special. Second flush was the right call.

Ava S. ★★★★★

The fruit and earth notes come through beautifully on the second steep, and it holds its character without turning bitter. This is my new Sunday afternoon ritual.

Kevin ★★★★★

The fruit and earth notes hit first, then the minerality lingers nicely on the finish — I’ve brewed this three times now and each cup feels layered. Knowing it comes from an estate founded back in 1859 adds a nice story to the ritual, though honestly the taste sells itself.
