Gunpowder is a traditional Chinese tea also known as Temple of Heaven Gunpowder or Pinhead Gunpowder. The name of this tea is due to the pellet like appearance of the rolled tea leaf.

To craft this tea, tender young tea leaves are steamed and then rolled into a tight ball. This particular gunpowder is the highest grade gunpowder available from the renowned Green Tea Triangle in Anhui province China.

Be mindful to brew this tea in the proper time and temperature. It can become bitter if brewed for too long or with too hot water.

Ingredients: organic green tea from Anhui province China

Steep Time:

steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz below boiling water, 175°F, for 2-3 minutes

The smoky finish really comes through on the second sip, and it makes this the boldest green tea I’ve tried in a while. It brews up a deep, full-bodied cup that holds its strength even after a couple of minutes steeping. Exactly what I wanted for a morning pick-me-up.

Owen ★★★★★

This is my second order of this tea and the nutty, vegetal taste is exactly what I want from a strong green. Brews up a deep, satisfying cup that holds its flavor even as it cools.
