I wasn't sure about vanilla in an earl grey, but it rounds out the bergamot so nicely that I've been steeping a second cup every afternoon. The floral note sneaks up on you too.
The fruitiness really lifts the bergamot instead of fighting it, and the tea stays smooth even after it cools down. I brewed a second steep out of curiosity and it held up nicely, which is rare for a flavored black.
The vanilla comes through in the finish, smoothing out the citrus sharpness in a way that makes this dangerously easy to keep sipping. I've been brewing it hot in the mornings and it's become my favorite part of the day, especially since the fruit notes linger without turning bitter.
