Category: Decaf Black Tea

Tasting Notes: rich dark chocolate

Description: Rich dark chocolate enveloped between layers of decaffeinated black tea. A decadent and indulgent tea that is lovely to sip in lieu of dessert. To increase the dessert nature of this tea, add milk and sweetener to enhance the creamy chocolate taste.

Our decaf teas are created using the CO2 decaffeination process. The advantage of this technique is that no chemical solvents are used to remove the caffeine. In this manner of decaffeination, naturally occurring CO2 is applied to the tea leaf in a circulation process which carefully uses high pressure and temperature to extract the caffeine. A very slight residue of caffeine will remain in the tea leaf, which is why we call them decaf teas rather than no caffeine teas. There will be a slight change in the character and flavor of the tea due to the decaffeination process, but the end result is an uncompromising cup of tea with no chemical overtones.

Please note: If you'd like a 100% naturally caffeine-free tea, we suggest that you try our large selection of no caffeine teas such as: herbal teas, rooibos teas, honeybush teas, and fruit tisanes.

Ingredients: decaffeinated black tea, dark chocolate, cacao nibs

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3-4 minutes

Ruby ★★★★★

The dark chocolate note actually comes through instead of just smelling like regular black tea, which surprised me. I've been drinking a cup after dinner instead of reaching for cookies, and it scratches the dessert itch without keeping me up.

I was skeptical that any decaf tea could stand in for my evening sweets craving, but this one nails it—sipping it feels like a treat, not a compromise. The dark chocolate notes are deep enough to fool my dessert-loving brain, and it’s satisfyingly rich without any caffeine jitters before bed.

I’ve been sipping this after dinner when I want something sweet but not heavy, and it honestly hits that spot better than any dessert I’ve tried lately. The dark chocolate taste is smooth and rich without being bitter, and the decaf black tea base keeps it from feeling too thin.
