Tasting Notes: dark chocolate + soft strawberry

Description:  Rich black tea meets dark chocolate and soft touches of strawberries.

In this tea, you'll find decaffeinated Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka mingling with dark chocolate and strawberry. This tea is great on its own but really shines when you add milk of choice and a touch of sweetener.

Our decaf teas are created using the CO2 decaffeination process. The advantage of this technique is that no chemical solvents are used to remove the caffeine. In this manner of decaffeination, naturally occurring CO2 is applied to the tea leaf in a circulation process which carefully uses high pressure and temperature to extract the caffeine. A very slight residue of caffeine will remain in the tea leaf, which is why we call them decaf teas rather than no caffeine teas. There will be a slight change in the character and flavor of the tea due to the decaffeination process, but the end result is an uncompromising cup of tea with no chemical overtones.

Please note: If you'd like a 100% naturally caffeine-free tea, we suggest that you try our large selection of no caffeine teas such as: herbal teas, rooibos teas, honeybush teas, and fruit tisanes.

Ingredients: decaf black tea, dark chocolate, cacao nibs, strawberry, strawberry leaves

Steep Directions: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz boiling water, 205-212°F, for 3 minutes

Adam ★★★★★

I drink this every night after dinner since regular black tea kept me up, and the strawberry is subtle enough that it doesn't taste like candy. The dark chocolate note lingers a bit on the finish, which I actually like.

I wasn't sure how strawberry would work in a black tea, but it's subtle here—more like a lingering sweetness on the finish than anything heavy. The dark chocolate note blends deep enough that it doesn't fight the tea leaves, and it's a nice caffeine-free treat with a splash of milk after dinner.

Hannah ★★★★★

The dark chocolate comes through bold and roasty on the first sip, then the strawberry softens it into something almost dessert-like. I brew it for a full five minutes with a splash of milk and it's my new afternoon ritual. Even decaf, it feels like a treat.
